Does Un Archiving Put Photos Back in Feed
Sometimes, we archive our Instagram posts, whether that's to hide an embarrassing moment or to test out new filters.
This guide will help you explore the many reasons why archiving posts may be beneficial and what to expect when archiving posts, as well as detailed "how to" tutorials and pro tips to help you archive and recover posts like a pro.
Benefits of Archiving Instagram Posts
Sometimes deletion of a post just isn't the right move. As an alternative, the platform came up with a unique way to "remove" your posts without deleting them. Instagram Archive provides a way for users to move previously posted videos, images and more to a separate (and private) archive that only they can access. Anything moved to the archive will no longer be visible to others.
But why would you want to archive a post in the first place? Turns out there's a bunch of reasons why archiving makes sense.
- Easily Move Photos and Videos from Public View
Archives allow you to easily move pictures and videos on and off of your profile into an "archive" when not needed or wanted in public view.
- Automatic Organization
The great thing about photos moved to an archive is that they automatically organize in chronological order. Not only that, if you decide to "republish" or move them back to your profile, they STAY in the original order in which they were posted….meaning that they won't display as a "new" post. Neat huh?
- Likes and Comments Are Saved
When archiving a post one of the biggest fears many have is that they'll lose their comments and likes on the post. Luckily, this is NOT the case. When you archive a post by moving it from your profile to the archive, all the other engagement and information with that post stays intact.
- Detailed Analytics
Those posts moved to your archive also still retain their insights analytics so you'll always have a good grasp on how well (or not) that they performed.
But What About Archiving Stories?
While posts have to be manually moved to the archive, Stories, on the other hand, are automatically saved in the archive in the order in which they were posted, including useful timestamps.
Within your story archive you can save stories to your devices, post them as a highlight, delete them or share them at your leisure. One word of caution though, although "live" IG stories are visible within your archive, deleting them while they are still "live" will also remove them from the archive.
